Metabolism is a self of life-sustaining chemical transformation within the cells of living organisms. These enzyme-catalyzed reactions allow organisms to grow and reproduce, maintain their structure and respond to their environment. The word ‘metabolism‘ can also refer to all chemical reactions that occur in the living organisms including digestion and the transport of substance into and with-in different cells.

Cellular respiration is the set of metabolic reactions and processes that take place in the cell of organisms to convert by chemical energy from new nutrients into adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and then released waste products
It utilizes oxygen to convert glucose into carbon dioxide and water with the release of adenosine triphosphate (ATP). ATP has high energy bonds and releases energy upon breakdown and is therefore known as the energy currency of the cell the following shows respiration in mitochondria
